Rules & Regulations for Crew Visa in Singapore
A circular from Singapore Immigration & Registration (SIR) has been released to inform the maritime industry of the visa restrictions put in place for crew members of ships.
The nationality of the seafarer and their Assessment Level (AL) define the Marine Crew Visa requirements for crew members in Singapore. Crew members from Assessment Level 1 nations such as Cambodia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), India, Laos, Myanmar, the People's Republic of China (PRC), and Vietnam do not need entrance visas.
Shipping agencies must provide Local Guarantor (LG) documents attesting to the fact that the people in question are crew members joining vessels. Shipping agents must still supply LGs and confirmed air tickets; an entry visa will be required if crew members from these nations are not VFTF-eligible.
An entry visa is necessary for crew members from the Assessment Level 2 nations, which include Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen, holders of Palestinian Authority Passports, refugees with travel documents issued by Middle Eastern nations, and holders of Temporary Passports issued by the United Arab Emirates. Shipping agents must confirm LGs for these crew members.
